Gantry Robot with 3D Laser Scanner
DSM provides custom motion solutions on conventional scales in addition to micro- and nano-scale motion. A current development application is for a robot capable of moving a wide range of objects with weights from a few ounces to more than 100 pounds over a 10 x 10 foot range. A tool changer is used to integrate multiple custom end effectors with a gantry robot, vision system, and laser scanner. Integrated 6-axis force and moment sensing are included to ensure safe system operation. When completed, the system will be able to use the laser scanner and vision system to locate and identify objects placed at arbitrary locations within the operating area. The system will lift a wide range of objects and manipulate them with an accuracy of approximately 0.001 inches.
