FPA-900E Piezoelectric Actuator
Description
DSM's FPA-900E is a flexure-based piezo actuator ideal for both dynamic and static applications where precise and accurate positioning is required. The FPA-900E is available standard with low voltage (150V) piezo material. The actuator incorporates a preload that enables bi-directional motion. The mechanism design is intended to provide a relatively high displacement range in a low-profile package. The displacement of the mechanism is transmitted through two parallel output plates with tapped attachment holes available in metric or English threads. Custom mounting conditions can be integrated into the design. The actuator's stainless steel construction can be prepared for vacuum compatibility upon request.

Models
The FPA-900E actuator is generally manufactured with low voltage (150V) piezo material, but other piezo materials and voltages are available by request. A kinematic inversion of the same actuator design is also available. In contrast with the FPA-900E which "pushes" (output plates move further apart) as the piezo is energized, this inverted model (the FPA-850C) "pulls" as the piezo is energized. Please contact DSM for more details if the FPA-850C is of interest.
Custom Actuators
DSM has extensive experience in actuator design for specialized force or stroke requirements. Customers are encouraged to contact DSM regarding any specific actuator requests.
