R&D - SBIR/STTR

Increase the effectiveness of your R&D and product development  dollars by leveraging DSM’s extensive research project experience and contacts.   Partner with DSM to explore new, higher risk technologies.

DSM is an active and successful participant in the Small Business Innovative Research (SBIR) and Small Business Technology Transfer (STTR) programs, which fund high-risk advanced technology that will help America maintain its competitive edge in the global marketplace.

Since the company's founding in 1998, DSM been awarded multiple SBIR/STTR applied R&D contracts from U.S. government agencies for millions of dollars. As a result, DSM's commercialization of the technologies stemming from these contracts has produced millions more in revenue primarily from developments related to unique piezoelectric positioning systems.

DSM's current research projects and technology development efforts include:

  • Innovative technology developments in the area of flexure-guided piezo actuator design to replace electromagnetic actuators in space-constrained aerospace platforms
  • High-force, high-speed piezoelectric motor and electronics driver development for use in proportional valve control in aerospace applications
